Water Flow Sensor
FLOW SENSING PRINCIPLE: The sensor works based on the Hall-effect principle. When water flows through the sensor body, it rotates an internal turbine rotor. A Hall-effect sensor detects the rotor rotation and generates electrical pulses proportional to the flow rate of water.
SENSOR STRUCTURE: The device consists of a plastic valve body containing a turbine rotor and an integrated Hall-effect sensor.
PIN CONFIGURATION: Three-wire interface consisting of Red (+VCC power supply), Black (GND), and Yellow (Pulse output signal).
OUTPUT SIGNAL: Generates digital pulse signals corresponding to the rotation of the turbine. The frequency of the pulses is directly proportional to the water flow rate.
OPERATING VOLTAGE: Requires a DC supply voltage typically between 5 V and 18 V for proper operation.
FLOW MEASUREMENT RANGE: Capable of measuring water flow rates approximately from 1 to 30 liters per minute.
PRESSURE CAPABILITY: Designed to withstand water pressure up to approximately 2.0 MPa in standard operating conditions.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: Compact inline sensor designed for 1/2-inch pipe connections with approximate dimensions of 2.5 × 1.4 × 1.4 inches and a lightweight structure of about 25 grams.
APPLICATION SCOPE: Commonly used in irrigation systems, water dispensers, smart water meters, water heaters, industrial flow monitoring systems, liquid distribution systems, and embedded IoT-based water monitoring applications.
