Stepper Motor (12V DC)
WORKING PRINCIPLE: The 12V DC 28BYJ-48 Stepper Motor operates based on electromagnetic stepping, where electrical pulse sequences are converted into discrete rotational movements. When pulses are applied to the motor windings through a driver circuit, the rotor advances step by step. Each pulse corresponds to a fixed angular movement, enabling precise control of position. The internal gear reduction mechanism further refines the step angle and increases torque, allowing accurate and controlled motion.
MODULE STRUCTURE: The motor consists of a compact unipolar stepper motor integrated with a gearbox. It includes four-phase windings that are energized sequentially to produce rotation. The gearbox reduces speed while increasing torque output. The motor is designed with a standard interface for easy plug-and-play operation and is typically used with a driver module that includes LED indicators (A, B, C, D) to show the active phase status.
PIN CONFIGURATION: The motor has five wires: Red – Common power supply (VCC), Blue, Pink, Yellow, Orange – Phase control wires (A, B, C, D) connected to the driver module
INTERFACE CONNECTION: The motor operates on a 12V DC power supply and is commonly interfaced with a stepper motor driver such as ULN2003. The driver module is connected to a microcontroller, which sends pulse signals to control the stepping sequence. The driver amplifies these signals and ensures proper energizing of the motor coils.
OUTPUT FUNCTION: The motor provides precise step-by-step rotation. Each step corresponds to a small angular displacement (5.625° × 1/64 with gear reduction), enabling fine positioning control. The motor delivers stable performance with moderate torque, making it suitable for controlled motion applications.
OPERATING VOLTAGE: 12V DC
SIGNAL CONDITIONING: The motor is controlled using pulse signals from a microcontroller. The number of pulses determines the rotation angle, while the frequency of pulses controls the rotational speed. The driver circuit ensures stable switching of phases and reliable motor operation.
