Rain Drop Sensor
RAIN DETECTION PRINCIPLE: Detects the presence of raindrops using a conductive rain board where water creates parallel resistance paths, enabling the module to measure rainfall intensity.
OPERATING VOLTAGE: Operates with a 5V DC power supply, suitable for Arduino and other microcontroller-based systems.
COMPARATOR CIRCUIT: Built around the LM393 voltage comparator, providing stable signal processing and reliable detection.
OUTPUT SIGNALS: Provides both digital output (DO) for rain detection status and analog output (AO) proportional to the amount of water on the sensing plate.
SENSITIVITY ADJUSTMENT: Includes an onboard potentiometer to adjust the sensitivity level based on environmental conditions.
SIGNAL PERFORMANCE: Comparator output offers a clean waveform with strong driving capability greater than 15 mA, ensuring stable interfacing with digital circuits.
SURFACE MATERIAL: The sensing plate uses nickel-plated conductive tracks to resist oxidation and improve electrical conductivity and durability.
MODULE STRUCTURE: Consists of two parts – a rain collector board and a control board, connected for convenient installation and sensing.
MODULE DIMENSIONS: Control board size approximately 32 × 15 × 9 mm, rain collector board size 54 × 40 × 1.5 mm.
PIN CONFIGURATION: VCC – 5V power supply, GND – Ground connection, DO – Digital output signal, AO – Analog output signal.
APPLICATION SCOPE: Commonly used in automatic windshield wipers, smart agriculture systems, weather monitoring stations, and home automation rain detection systems
