Piezoelectric Sensor
SENSING PRINCIPLE: A piezoelectric sensor works on the piezoelectric effect, where certain materials generate an electrical charge when mechanical stress, vibration, pressure, or force is applied.
SENSOR STRUCTURE: The sensor typically consists of a thin piezoelectric ceramic disc attached to a metal plate (usually brass). This construction allows the disc to bend slightly under force, generating an electrical signal.
PIN CONFIGURATION:Two-wire interface consisting of Positive (+) and Negative (−) terminals.
OUTPUT SIGNAL: Produces an analog voltage signal proportional to the amount of mechanical stress or vibration applied to the sensor surface.
LOW POWER OPERATION: The sensor does not require an external power supply to generate a signal since it produces voltage directly from mechanical energy.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: Ultra-thin circular structure with a diameter of approximately 27 mm.
OPERATING CONDITIONS: Designed to operate within a temperature range of approximately −20°C to +70°C.
APPLICATION SCOPE: Widely used in vibration detection, knock sensors, force measurement systems, pressure sensing, sound detection devices, electronic drum pads, lighter ignition systems, and structural health monitoring applications.
