OV5640 Camera Module
WORKING PRINCIPLE: The OV5640 camera module is a fixed-focus, 5-megapixel CMOS image sensor designed for embedded imaging applications. When powered, the sensor captures light through its lens and converts it into digital image data. The module includes adjustable parameters such as gain, frame rate, and exposure, enabling high-speed image capture while maintaining low power consumption.
MODULE STRUCTURE: The module integrates the OV5640 CMOS sensor on a compact PCB with a 1/4” lens and fixed focus optics. Its small dimensions make it ideal for embedded devices. The sensor supports high sensitivity and produces high-quality images with minimal distortion, while the lens provides a wide 160° field of view.
PIN CONFIGURATION: The module exposes pins for digital power supply (DVDD 1.5±10% V, AVDD 2.8 V), data, clock, and control signals, enabling full integration with microcontrollers, FPC, or USB interfaces for embedded applications.
INTERFACE CONNECTION: The module supports standard digital camera interfaces for image capture, while control signals allow manual adjustment of focus, gain, and frame rate. The fixed-focus optics simplify usage in devices where continuous autofocus is not required.
OUTPUT FUNCTION: The camera delivers 5-megapixel images with high sensitivity and low distortion (<-78% TV distortion). Its fixed-focus lens ensures consistent image clarity for embedded vision, AIoT, smart home, robotics, UAVs, industrial and medical applications.
