DC Gear Motor (6 RPM)
WORKING PRINCIPLE: The 12V 6 RPM Center Shaft DC Gear Motor is a geared DC motor that converts electrical energy into slow, high-torque rotational motion. When DC voltage is applied, current flows through the motor windings, creating a magnetic field that rotates the motor shaft. The integrated metal gear reduction system significantly reduces the motor’s speed to approximately 6 RPM while increasing torque. This allows smooth, controlled motion suitable for precision applications requiring low speed and high force.
MODULE STRUCTURE: The motor consists of a DC motor coupled with a durable metal gearbox. The gearbox houses multiple reduction gears that step down speed and enhance torque output. The center shaft design includes an external threaded portion and an internal threaded hole, enabling direct attachment of wheels or mechanical components. The structure is compact, robust, and designed for easy mounting on robotic chassis and assemblies.
PIN CONFIGURATION: The motor has two electrical terminals: Positive (+) – Connect to the positive terminal of the DC power supply, Negative (−) – Connect to the ground or negative terminal of the power supply. Reversing the polarity will reverse the direction of rotation.
INTERFACE CONNECTION: The motor operates on a 12V DC power supply and is commonly interfaced with motor driver modules such as L298N when used with microcontrollers like Arduino. The driver allows safe control of direction and speed, supporting integration into embedded and robotic systems.
OUTPUT FUNCTION: The motor delivers a low output speed of approximately 6 RPM with high torque. It provides a rated torque of around 12 kg-cm and a stall torque up to 20 kg-cm, making it suitable for applications that require strong force and precise, slow movement.
OPERATING VOLTAGE: 12V DC
SIGNAL CONDITIONING: Speed control can be achieved using PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signals through an H-bridge motor driver, while direction control is managed by switching polarity. This enables accurate and flexible control in automation and robotics.
